Edinburgh International Magic Festival is looking for an Administrator to join our small team for four days a week, on a freelance basis until the end of January 2020.

FESTIVAL ADMINISTRATOR – FREELANCE CONTRACT
Job Title: Festival Administrator – Freelance
Hours: 4 days a week (28 hours), 9-5pm, Mon-Thu (flexibility is required for evening events and full time involvement is essential during the festival – 27 Dec – 5 Jan TBC)
Contract term: 9 months, May 2019 – 31 January 2020 (with potential to extend)
Fee: range £13,000 – £15,000 (£22,000 – £25,000 pa pro rata) depending on experience
PRIMARY PURPOSE
To assist the team in delivering the 2019 Edinburgh International Magic Festival and to manage surrounding activities and events, as well as future projects in development, and to support internal office administration.
We’re looking for a highly organised, pro-active individual with a passion for the creative industries who enjoys meeting new people and feels satisfaction from getting things done.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinating and delivering festival events and related activities
- Liaising with venues, performers, partners, box office
- Supporting relationship management with sponsors and funders
- Contributing to marketing and promotion strategies and implementing them
- General admin & operations (contracts, finance, logistics, scheduling, arranging meetings, writing minutes etc)
- Attending fortnightly progress meetings
- Assisting with evaluation of the Festival 2019
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
- Good time management skills and the ability to deal with multiple priorities successfully
- Experience of events organising and working with sponsors
- Ability to work independently, and as part of a small team
- Ability to work under pressure
- Hard-working and personable with a can-do attitude
- Good knowledge of the creative industries, interest in magic
- IT skills especially a good knowledge of excel and word.
- Desirable: working knowledge of Photoshop and video editing software
POST INFORMATION
Employment will be on a part-time freelance basis from May 2019 until the end of January 2020. We are based at 101 Rose Street South Lane, Edinburgh, EH1 3JG. Our offices are on the third floor and unfortunately, we have no lift so please alert us if this would cause you any problems.
Normal hours of work are 28 hours per week, however full time involvement during the festival is essential. The position may occasionally require additional hours, including work at events. We offer 17 holidays for this role plus bank holidays, as well as time off in lieu for work outside office hours.
This contract will be subject to a probationary period of two month during which time either party may terminate the employment on 2 weeks’ notice.
